The UK’s Top Restaurants for Veganuary 2021

All

January 8, 2021

One of the few upsides of the Covid-19 pandemic is that it forced us all to slow down and reflect on our priorities: health, family, friends, and our impact on the planet. It’s no surprise then, that a whopping half a million people have registered to participate in Veganuary for 2021.

Despite the best of intentions, when it comes to the end of a hard day’s work, it’s all too easy to default to our favourite, meat-filled, comfort food takeaways. We get it. That’s why we’re so grateful for the increasing number of vegan options available from our favourite restaurants, helping us to stick to our New Year’s resolutions and do our bit for the environment.

Because we know how challenging it can be, we’ve compiled a list of some of our favourite vegan offerings from our client restaurants, to help out anyone looking to cut back on meat this January. Check them out!

The Athenian Plant Based:

Despite their commitment to authentic Greek flavours, Neo and the Athenian team are also passionate about staying relevant. Knowing that a generation of meat-free and meat-minimising consumers was rising up, they lovingly developed a full range of plant-based Athenian options that are equally delicious as their meaty counterparts.

With their vegan gyros (that’s just as high in protein as meat!), mushroom and Santorini tomato croquettes, you’re spoilt for choice if you want the mouthwatering Athenian experience without breaking your Veganuary streak.

The Athenian Vegan SouvlakiYO! Vegan Range:

Best known for their iconic sushi conveyor belts, it’s a lovely surprise that YO! has come to offer such a wonderful range of plant-based options. Perfect for wintry evenings, you can enjoy their aromatic katsu curry with either crispy pumpkin or tofu, or opt for a steaming bowl of shiitake mushroom ramen. If you’re new to YO!, or just a little indecisive, the ‘Oh, My Green Goodness’ set menu might just be your saviour, with a super selection of vegan favourites for two for only £25.

Although their restaurants are sadly closed for dine-in due to the UK lockdown, Japanese food lovers can still get their YO! fix with take away from certain restaurant locations and YO! Kiosks which can be found in hundreds of UK supermarkets.

Leon Vegan Subscription:

As a business founded on the question ‘What would fast food be like in heaven?’ Leon has long challenged the assumption that fast food has to negatively impact our bodies or our planet. They were early to champion meat-free options with their infamous LOVe burger and Fast Vegan cookbook, and are always adding to their plant-based menu range.

This Veganuary, Leon is doing something new. Following the success of their coffee subscription they are launching a Vegan Subscription powered by Vita Mojo and Chargebee (more on this partnership to come!). By joining the ‘Vegang’ members can bag themselves 30% off all Vegan products, including coffees and smoothies, for just £6 a month. If you’re a veggie/vegan/flexitarian Leon fan then this could be the perfect subscription for you.
