Background

Salsa Shop launched in 2014 with a simple but powerful idea: to bring bold, fresh, Mexican-inspired food to the Netherlands. What started as a group of friends inspired by Chipotle quickly became a local favourite, known for made-from-scratch meals and a vibrant customer experience.

When Alexander Jerejian, COO, joined in 2017, he brought decades of hospitality expertise and a clear goal: to professionalise operations and prepare the brand for serious growth.

Challenge

At the time, Salsa Shop’s restaurants operated inconsistently. “One store would skip jalapeños, another would skip roasting vegetables. It was inconsistent, and that impacted the customer experience,” said Alexander.

On the tech side, things weren’t much smoother. Disconnected delivery partners, manual data entry, and outdated systems created inefficiencies and limited visibility across the business. COVID only intensified the need for automation. “I wanted to run the business from my laptop,” Alexander explained.

Salsa Shop needed a platform that could unify their systems, reduce admin overhead, and support long-term scalability.

The solution

After comparing vendors, Alexander chose Vita Mojo for its powerful backend, native integrations, and responsive support. Salsa Shop implemented the full product suite across all 16 locations in just two days: POS, direct delivery integrations, Click & Collect, kiosks, catering, loyalty, and reporting.

“We went all in,” said Alexander. “The data we get from Vita Mojo is gold. Other systems don’t give you this level of insight, such as AOV, peak hours, and top sellers. And because it’s all native, the data is accurate.”

Kiosks were a particularly impactful addition. Before Vita Mojo, Salsa Shop had no self-serve offering. Now, in some stores, kiosks account for up to 80% of transactions, driving throughput and reaching new, digital-first customers.

The results

Within six months, Salsa Shop saw dramatic improvements. The number of transactions grew by 25%, and the business could measure success more effectively through real-time reporting and data accuracy.

The transformation also streamlined new store openings. “Previously, opening a new site meant coordinating with four or five different companies. Now, I send one email to Vita Mojo and it’s done.”

Perhaps most importantly, Salsa Shop found a true partner. “It’s not just the tech. The whole team went above and beyond,” Alexander shared. “Whether it’s rolling out kiosks in two days or quick and reliable troubleshooting, their support has been unmatched.”

Looking ahead

With a solid operational foundation, Salsa Shop is ready to scale, both nationally and internationally. As Alexander puts it, “This change gave me 10 more years of tech scalability. As long as Vita Mojo keeps evolving and supporting us, we’ll be with them for the long haul.”
